Guard your thoughts -
“for as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.”
My friend Kathy saw my post on facebook about Sunday’s sermon. She asked me for the specific action steps for Guarding our Thoughts.
First I want you to remember these 3 things:
A. What Goes In your mind is what Comes Out – your brain is a giant sponge – if you soak up good thoughts and good words – good thoughts and good words will come out!
B. What we dwell on is WHERE we will dwell – If you dwell on evil, ugly thoughts you will dwell in them!
C. What we think we are – is what we will become. If you want to become a better Christian, a better follower – then you have to think about it and about becoming one.
Secondly remember this: Change your life by changing your thoughts.
Therefore:
1. Put in Good Stuff – Read Your Bible 15 mins per day -
Accept the Bible Challenge – This week Matthew 11-13
2. Focus and practice on Paul’s instructions in Philippians 4:8Philippians 4:8
English: Contemporary English Version (1999) - CEV
8 Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.

whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is pleasing,
whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence
and if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.
Choose your thoughts. Guarding your thoughts is an offensive – proactive stance. So tell the impure ones, the dishonorable ones, the unjust ones, the mediocre ones, the evil ones NO. Think about things worthy of praise – when you have a bad thought come into your mind – think about something good – something great God has done.
Remember – if we do the things scripture tells us to do as believers, we will seldom if ever have to focus on what it tells us not to do! And remember it take practice.
Everyday.
Think about these things!
