Are You Out of Your Mind?

Not a very nice question for the PastorDude to ask you is it?  But it is one that every follower of Jesus should ask.  Because we are supposed to have the mind of Christ and that means we have to be out of our own minds.

This week I was reading through Philippians 2:5-11Philippians 2:5-11
English: Contemporary English Version (1999) - CEV

5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought: d think the same way that Christ Jesus thought: Or “think the way you should because you belong to Christ Jesus.” 6 Christ was truly God. But he did not try to remain e remain: Or “become.” equal with God. 7 Instead he gave up everything f He gave up everything: Greek, “He emptied himself.” and became a slave, when he became like one of us. 8 Christ was humble. He obeyed God and even died on a cross. 9 Then God gave Christ the highest place and honored his name above all others. 10 . So at the name of Jesus everyone will bow down, those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. 11 And to the glory of God the Father everyone will openly agree, “Jesus Christ is Lord!”

and discovered another fabulous passaged dealing with the mind of Christ.  And for the past few weeks I have found passage after passage  dealing with this very important topic.  And that tells me that what is in our minds is a very big deal.  Jesus tells us that what is in our minds is just as important as what we do.   (Check out Matthew 5)

Here is what I have learned about having the mind of Christ means.  The mind of Christ is a renewed mind.  (Romans 12:2Romans 12:2
English: Contemporary English Version (1999) - CEV

2 Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.

12 It doesn't matter how much you have. What matters is how much you are willing to give from what you have.

)  The final thing I would share with you may be the most important.  A Christ filled mind is a mind that focuses on the things above. (Colossians 3:2Colossians 3:2
English: Contemporary English Version (1999) - CEV

2 Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth.

)    This last focus can help us right away – because if it is Godly – Christ thought about it and so can you!  Think about these things – “If it is true, honorable, just, pure, excellant, or praiseworthy – think about these things.  (Philippians 4:8Philippians 4:8
English: Contemporary English Version (1999) - CEV

8 Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
